Ben Rosett is a man of many, many hats. Drummer/Producer of Strawberry Girls & Eternity Forever. Owner and operator of Spirit Vision Records/Studios. Multi-instrumentalist. Founder of “SEXLESS” Fashion.
Rosett does a lot. When he isn’t focusing on music for Strawberry Girls, or his solo project, he is overseeing production for up-and-coming roster-mates TANG. Putting the finishing touches on a new necklace design or wrapping up mixes from Spirit Vision Studios, its safe to say that Rosett is quickly filling his plate.
Strawberry Girls have just announced a 31 date US tour in support of their 2019 album Tasmanian Glow. Andres, Dwellings & Amarionette will be supporting the tour on all dates.
While Rosett prepares himself for tour, we had to ask him how he does it all. Check out the interview below.
What is SEXLESS & how did you get into fashion?
Sexless is a brand I came up with because I got inspired to start creating a specific type of necklace. Check out @sexlessdesign on Instagram i’ve been interested in fashion since high school. I’ve always liked trying to look good and have a certain style. My influences have changed over the years and my style has evolved over time.
Can you describe the differences in the writing/production/overall creative process in making Tasmanian Glow compared to previous SG records?
Creating Tasmanian Glow was a lot different than previous records because now we all live in different cities, whereas before we used to all be close together. So our guitarist Zac created a bunch of demo ideas and then we picked the best 10 songs, met up, and recorded everything.
How do you, personally, balance your band, family, clothing line, record label, solo project and the countless other projects you have your hands in?
I’m not sure how I balance everything. It’s kind of just who I am and what I do. I’ve been pursuing music since I was ten years old. I’ve been touring for the past 7 years. I’ve been recording music for like 15 years. I’ve been in my band longer than I’ve been married and have had kids. Every day I try to make a little progress on all my different projects. Whether it’s mixing someone else’s music, making a necklace, spending time with my wife and kids, writing a guitar riff, making a video….I bounce around between all those things every day.
If you were trapped on a desert island and could only live with 3 records for the rest of your life, which three would you choose?
If I could only have 3 records on a desert island I’d pick: Doppelganger by The Fall of Troy, Facing New York by Facing New York, and Failure On by Beloved. That’s a really tough question because I love so many bands and records…
