BROCKHAMPTON drops second single, “COUNT ON ME”, within a week
Just a few days ago BROCKHAMPTON dropped the single “BUZZCUT”, featuring Danny Brown. “BUZZCUT” drew on the group members’ anger over the past year and vague references to internet culture. The song was paired with its music video and both were expertly crafted, as pack leader Kevin Abstract explained how he recorded his verse over 100 times to get it just right.
In high energy and high spirits, BROCKHAMPTON also dropped a second single this week: “COUNT ON ME“. This new release is an ode to the bandmates’ loved ones, and that no matter the circumstance you can count on them. It features Ryan Beatty and Shawn Mendes, and was partially written by A$AP Rocky.
While these releases and their next album Roadrunner:New Light, New Machine (premeires April 9th) are worth celebrating, both are shadowed by a sadder reality: the boys are back, but not for long. After they finish Roadrunner and another unnamed album, the band will stop making music, probably by the end of 2021.
Nonetheless, BROCKHAMPTON’s upcoming album is sure to be a treat with creative collaborations and more heartfelt subjects hidden in every verse.
