Looking to get your face melted this holiday season while helping your local community and its amazing non-profit organizations? You can do both at Deck the Halls with Bands of Raleigh this Saturday afternoon at the Pour House Musical Hall and Record Shop!
Stop by downtown Raleigh for this all ages show where all proceeds will go to Urban Ministries of Wake County, NC State Food Pantry and Raleigh Rescue Mission. Donations will be strongly encouraged at the door and each organization will have tables and information.
Then, discover some of the best rock and alternative bands coming out of the City of Oaks with sets from The Bronze Age, Stranded Bandits, Spaced Angel & The New Aquarian! Music will be from 1-5 PM and the Pour House’s brand new record shop will be open upstairs spinning disks and serving delicious local brews.
The New Aquarian released their new album last month and bring a refined and down-to-Earth style that mixes classic country and blues with alt and indie rock. For a set that feels more like a dream sequence rather than live music, catch Spaced Angel for their mesmerizing guitar riffs and psychedelic vibes. Stranded Bandits combine blues elements with dirty, fast punk licks to produce a sound that you can’t help but throw down to. To close out the festivities, The Bronze Age will be burning up the stage fresh off from recording their new album in New Jersey. With a pure rock feel that yields satisfying guitars and drum melodies, they will cap off the party with a bang.
Since 1981, Urban Ministries of Wake County has responded to our neighbors in crisis by providing basic needs like food, medicine and shelter. Their Open Door Clinic offers high quality medical care from volunteer doctors, nurses, pharmacists, lab techs and more. (Fun fact, Isaac McDaniel of Stranded Bandits volunteers for this organization regularly!) Community partnerships allow them to refer patients to specialists at no charge, and to offer in-house mental health counseling. 14% of NC State’s students experience low or very low food security. This means 4,750 students are cutting portion sizes, skipping meals, eating less than they should, and going hungry. 40% of these students also already have a meal plan that isn’t sufficient to meet their basic needs. Feed the Pack is a community-based initiative sustained by the greater NC State community to combat the food insecurity experienced by members of the Wolfpack family. Raleigh Rescue Mission is a place with a long-term purpose and steadfast strategy to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness. They are here for those who need a second chance and are willing to do the work it takes to rebuild their lives. Their focus is on assisting those who are ready to make a commitment to transforming their life, and working to overcome the negative factors that led to homelessness.
