Better Oblivion Community Center share video for “Dylan Thomas,” announce tour

Last week, Phoebe Bridgers and Conor Oberst surprise-dropped a new album under the name Better Oblivion Community Center. It was indeed a surprise, despite the teasing of the project that preceded it. The duo kicked off the announcement with a great TV debut on The Late Show where they performed album highlight “Dylan Thomas.” And today they’ve dropped a full video for that very song.

The video for “Dylan Thomas,” directed by Michelle Zauner of Japanese Breakfast, continues the cult-like theming that’s been swirling around the album’s release. Initially, the name popped up with a corresponding hotline number, which framed this project as if it were an actual creepy place instead of a band. Even their TV performance kept up this theme, acting as if it was a surreal infomercial, complete with VHS effects. The video goes full-force into the eerie cult imagery. And although this is essentially a folk rock band, it’s undeniable how great the two have been at tying together this theme.

In addition to the new video, the band have also shared news of a headlining tour. The dates will run from March and on into May, covering much of the US as well as some of the UK. Tickets will go on sale this Friday at noon local time right here.
