Death Cab For Cutie drop new song “Kids In ‘99,” announce ‘The Blue EP’

Death Cab For Cutie dropped their ninth studio album Thank You For Today just about a year ago now. And today they’ve shared news of an even more new music on the way, this time in the form of a new EP. The EP is simply titled The Blue EP. It’ll feature five brand new songs, and is currently due out September 6.

And just in case you were wondering what sort of sound you can look forward to on the new EP, the answer is likely more of the same. Which isn’t a bad thing. Despite hitting somewhat of a later career slump, Death Cab’s most recent LP was actually a pretty solid piece of work. And the newest single from The Blue EP is very much in the same vein of many of the songs that populated that album,

The single is called “Kids In ‘99,” and in it, the band get both reflective and kind of energetic, with some of their trademark sounds in a quick and catchy cut. The slick production this time out comes courtesy of the great Peter Katis, and is one of two songs the band recorded with him.

Give a listen to “Kids In ‘99” below. Just beyond that you’ll find the album art and tracklist for The Blue EP.
