Starkly juxtaposed with their quiet midland’s hometown of Northampton, Sarpa Salpa craft upbeat alt-pop bangers designed with the indie dancefloor in mind.
Formed by Marcus Marooth (vocals), George Neath (guitar), Ethan Whitby (bass) & Charlie Doe (drums) with Meg Amirghiasvand (synths) joining in 2019, Sarpa Salpa began playing regularly in their local venues before heading to almost every corner of the UK, amassing a loyal following of fans.
Since the start of the Pandemic, Sarpa Salpa began work on their sophomore EP ‘A Feeling You Can’t Replace’. The first two tracks recorded in March 2020 came in the form of summer anthem ‘Forwards Backwards’ and indie banger ‘Stick to What You Know’. Both tracks received continued radio support from BBC Introducing, Radio X, BBC 6 Music with BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders crowing ‘Forwards Backwards’ his Tune of the Week and playing the band on his show for 12 weeks straight.
Sarpa Salpa went back into the studio in December with the backing of the PPL Momentum Fund to finish the rest of the EP recording ‘Another Life’, ‘Ghost’ and ‘As Good as It Gets’. At this time the band also hit 750,000 streams across platforms including 500,000 on Spotify alone.
The EP follows a theme of chasing a feeling, for Sarpa Salpa this is performing live music. With a potential return to live music in June, a 9-date UK tour has been booked including London, Manchester and their much-anticipated hometown show at the largest venue in Northampton, the Roadmender.
