Local Natives announce new tour, tease new music

It’s been just about three years since we last heard some new music from Local Natives. Back in 2016, the LA-based band dropped their third full-length record Sunlit Youth, which seemed to push their sound in a more pop-friendly direction. Since then, the band have remained fairly quiet on the music front. Although early last year, they did share a bunch of behind-the-scenes stuff in celebration of the fifth anniversary of their sophomore release Hummingbird. Now, though, the band are gearing up for a new release this year, although details remain scant at the moment.

Earlier today, Local Natives took to their social media to share news of a new tour titled Spiral Choir Tour. The news came in the form of a short video, which seems to feature some instrumental from a new song. The tour kicks off in May and runs through June. Alongside this new tour announcement, the band shared these words: “new music March 2019.” So, putting together all this information, it looks as if the band are slowly building towards an album announcement. And maybe, just maybe, the album is in fact called Spiral Choir. That’s pure speculation at this point. But we can definitely expect some form of new music sometime next month, with a full album of new material likely to follow in time to coincide with the tour.

While we wait for more concrete information, give their tour announcement video a watch below. Just beyond that, you’ll also find the full list of dates for the Spiral Choir tour.
