Nathan Ball, the UK-based singer-songwriter, shared “Can’t Work You Out,” along with visuals for the single. The track’s lyrical exploration of our internal battles combines folkier, emotive storytelling with cinematic, building production. The combined effect of the single is reminiscent of something from the likes of Ben Howard or Charlie Cunningham.
“Can’t Work You Out” joins “Blindside,” a March release from Ball, in what is a growing catalogue of emotionally raw and musically stirring tracks from the up and coming artist. These releases are samples of what is to come from Ball’s debut album, Under the Mackerel Sky. The record is due out in August before a planned headlining tour of the UK in September.
Greg Dennis directed the official video for “Can’t Work You Out.” The visuals draw out the angst of the single, with moody lighting and heightened energy.
