Happy pre-Halloween everyone! Get ready for the weekend with some of our picks for this week’s Nü Music Friday:

Elton John- The Lockdown Sessions

Elton John makes a famous step into new music with his latest album The Lockdown Sessions. The album, as expected, was made and inspired during COVID and features Stevie Wonder, 6LACK, Lil Nas X, Nicki Minaj, Young Thug, Dua Lipa, the late Glen Campbell and more. The 16 tracks were recorded over the last 16 months and shows that Elton John has something to prove, even when he’s on top of the world.

In a touching quote about features on the album, Elton explains:

” I’ve admired Young Thug for a while and he sampled one of my songs on his track, ‘High’, back in 2018 so it was great to collaborate again… And then, I was so pleased when Nicki agreed to do it. I’m very grateful to have such talented artists from a totally different genre to me on this album and that they’ve included me.”

Ed Sheeran –  = (Equals)

Ed Sheeran reaches another mathematical height (just kidding) his fifth studio album with = (Equals). The album covers his marriage, the birth of his daughter Lyra, and the fact that he thought he was going to be done making music at this point in his life.

“I was suddenly like, ‘It is more important for my daughter to grow up knowing that her parents have work ethic and her parents love working hard and love creating…and seeing that rather than, like, looking at your dad as technically unemployed.”

The Ghost Club – “I Feel Fine”

The Ghost Club released his latest synth-filled single “I Feel Fine”. Lead singer/producer/songwriter Domenic Dungeon played every instrument but the drums in this single, as well as his earlier releases. The single features twangy and energetic vocals that feels lie you’ve just transported out of the ’80s.

Black Veil Brides- The Phantom Tomorrow

Rock band Black Veil Brides released their latest heroic album, The Phantom Tomorrow, this week. The album takes note of the bandmates’ heroes, from Spawn to Rorschach to Sting. As usual, the album comes with heavy, melodic rock but at a slower pace than Black Veil Brides fans are used to, but a great pace for the band.

Aminé – “Charmander”

This week Aminé released his latest piece of music since Limbo in 2020. The song is downright goofy, and the music video was directed by Aminé as well.

44phantom – “I WON’T COMPLAIN”

44phantom, rising in the grunge-pop scene, dropped “I WON’T COMPLAIN” This week. It features Tom The Mail Man, and follows the release of his latest EP die sometime, it’s good for you. 44phantom has drawn influences from Kurt Cobain, Bob Dylan and Carrie Underwood, and features Tom The Mail Man in this latest single. “I WON’T COMPLAIN” was released after his latest EP, die sometime, it’s good for you.
