Check out our picks for this week’s Nü Music Friday, featuring Baby Keem, Chlöe, Glass Animals and more:

Baby Keem – The Melodic Blue

Baby Keem, cousin of Kendrick Lamar, released his debut studio album The Melodic Blue. The album has been in the producing process since 2019 and is 16 tracks long, with features from Travis Scott and Kendrick himself. The album is boastful, with plenty of beats and quick-hitting lines to show that Baby Keem is up-and-coming.

Ari Lennox – “Pressure”

The up-and-comer Ari Lennox, released her latest single “Pressure” along with a music video this week. The silky R&B Lennox hasn’t released music since 2019’s Shea Butter Baby, so “Pressure” definitely hits the spot for Lennox fans.

Glass Animals – “I Don’t Wanna Talk”

Glass Animals, after making it to Billboard Top 20 and Platinum in the UK with “Heat Waves”, released their latest single “I Don’t Wanna Talk”. The song was released with a music video, and both take in the feeling of finally getting out of the damn house (thanks COVID).

Odd Beholder – Sunny Bay

This synth-pop, folk, indie, you-name-it artist Daniela Weinmann released her latest album Sunny Bay. Weinmann, the figurehead of Odd Beholder, really brought bursts of life into many corners of Sunny Bay. It’s swooning, free-soaring, and humble, but most importantly, it’s worth a listen.

Big Thief – “Certainty”

This week, the folk- indie group Big Thief released their newest single “Certainty”. This has been their third release of 2021, and was recorded/ created using a cigarette lighter (read more about the song’s recording process here).

Chlöe -“Have Mercy”

After blowing up on TikTok, Chlöe Bailey’s pre-hit “Have Mercy” is finally out! “Have Mercy” ‘s music video features Beyoncé’s mom, miss Tina Knowles-Lawson.
