Brooklyn-based punk band Parquet Courts announced their upcoming album Sympathy for Life will be released on October 22. Sympathy for Life will be the band’s eighth studio album.
The first single off of Sympathy for Life is the almost five-minute track “Walking at a Downtown Pace.”
The band’s previous album Wide Awake! was released in 2018 and peaked at number 122 on the Billboard 200 chart.
“Wide Awake! was a record you could put on at a party,” said Austin Brown, co-front man of Parquet Courts. “Sympathy For Life is influenced by the party itself. Historically, some amazing rock records have been made from mingling in dance music culture – from Talking Heads to Screamadelica. Our goal was to bring that into our own music.”

Parquet Courts have been releasing music since 2011. They rose to prominence with the success of their 2014 album Sunbathing Animal, which peaked at number 55 on the Billboard 200 chart.
