Hip hop super duo Run The Jewels have dropped their long awaited fourth album RTJ4 today ahead of its planned June 5 release date.
RTJ4 comes four years after 2016’s Run the Jewels 3 and features the singles “Ooh LA LA” and “yankee and the brave (ep. 4).” The new album has a number of guest appearances, including 2 Chainz, DJ Premier, Pharrell Williams, Mavis Staples, Greg Nice, Gangsta Boo, Zach de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine, and Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age. In a statement released alongside the album the duo said of the early release:
“Fuck it, why wait? The world is infested with bullshit so here’s something raw to listen to while you deal with it all. We hope it brings you some joy. Stay safe and hopeful out there and thank you for giving 2 friends the chance to be heard and do what they love.”
Additionally, the duo put together a list of organizations they encourage listeners to financially support.
Killer Mike, one half of Run The Jewels along with rapper/producer El-P, recently made an emotional speech in Atlanta concerning the current swell of protests against racial injustice.
