The incomparably great Neko Case is ready to release her seventh studio album Hell-On in just one week from today. Already, we’ve gotten a couple of excellent singles, each which prove yet again that no matter what sound Case hones in on – she flourishes. She originally got her start leaning more into the alt-country arena of things, but once she hit her fourth or so record things shifted. From then on, she started to become one of the most phenomenal voices in music period. And she proved with her last release (2013’s The Worse Things Get..) that she cannot be pigeonholed into any one genre. I think we’ve come to understand that with the little bits of teaser tracks we’ve heard from Hell-On, but now we can put it all to the test because today you can stream the entire thing.
Aside from NPR‘s excellent Tiny Desk Concerts, the public radio station often has one other biggie when it comes to new music. For several years now, they’ve been hosting “first listen” streams of new albums before the release date. And yes, you can now see what I’m getting out. This time out, they’ve got the exclusive early listen for Neko Case’s highly anticipated new album. Neko Case is the frontrunner for best modern vocalist in my opinion, and I think with just one listen of this new LP you’ll understand what I mean. Her work has been underrated for too long. It’s time. Welcome her into your life with her beautiful new album, Hell-On.
So head happily into the long weekend by giving a Hell-On a full listen right here.
Like what you heard? Of course you did. So go ahead and pre-order a physical copy here.
