Earlier this year, Paramore wowed both old and new fans when they released their 80s synth pop/rock-infused fifth album, After Laughter. A lot of that album effortlessly blended catchy pop sunniness with more dire, sad and serious lyrical content. Well, now the band has grouped together to perform 3 tracks from that hook-filled LP for NPR’s long-running Tiny Desk Concert.
The songs in Paramore’s set are much more stripped back than what appears on the album, which really works to highlight the great songwriting from Hayley Williams. More than anything though, it reinforces how instantly enjoyable and effortlessly charming After Laughter is.
