Waxahatchee announces new EP ‘Great Thunder’

Waxahatchee, the musical project from the great Katie Crutchfield, has just announced a new EP is on the way. Titled Great Thunderthe six track work will arriving September 7. It comes about a year after her last full length, Out In The Storm. But whereas that album saw Crutchfield at her most rocking peak, the new EP looks to scale things way back down.

Of the new EP, Crutchfield says: “I would say that it is a complete 180 from the last record: super stripped-down, quiet, and with me performing solo, it’s a throwback to how I started.” In fact, it’s more than just a throwback in sound. The tracks here represent old songs originally written as part of a now nonexistent experimental side project called Great Thunder. The songs have all been rediscovered and re-recorded solely by Katie Crutchfield.

Ahead of the album’s release, Waxahatchee has shared the first official video for leading single “Chapel Of the Pines.” Check out the beautiful new video right below here. And just below that you can find the artwork and full tracklist for Great Thunder.
